Loan Shark Is Coming to Xbox Series X/S Next Week

Get Your Salvation From the Loan Shark

Indie developer Studio Ortica has announced that its psychological horror game, Loan Shark, is arriving on Xbox Series X/S on January 13, 2026. The game first launched on PC via Steam on August 8, 2025, where it steadily built a dedicated audience. Since its release, Loan Shark has maintained a Very Positive reception, with around 83% of player reviews praising its unsettling mood, focused storytelling, and distinctive approach to horror.

In the game, players become a struggling angler buried under debt and trapped in a cycle of obligation. What begins as a routine night at sea slowly transforms into something far more disturbing. The ocean feels oppressive, the silence grows uncomfortable, and the familiar rhythm of work begins to fracture. When the fishing nets are finally hauled in, they reveal more than the expected catch.

At the center of this descent is Cagliuso, a one-eyed, talking fish who offers a way out. His proposal seems straightforward, even generous, yet it carries an unspoken weight. Accepting his help does not lead to empowerment or victory. Instead, it draws players into a quiet and deeply unsettling negotiation where every benefit comes with a hidden loss. Time, clarity, and moral certainty gradually slip away as each choice reshapes the experience.

Inspired by classic “deal with the devil” narratives, Loan Shark delivers a compact psychological horror journey built around tension, consequence, and mounting pressure. The sea becomes both a place of labor and a looming threat, while the constant presence of unseen creditors ensures lasting unease. Rather than relying on overt scares, the game thrives on implication, atmosphere, and the creeping sense that something is always watching and keeping score.
