Perform the Ritual in Devil of the Plague
SoulByte Games has revealed that Devil of the Plague will enter Steam Early Access this April. The specific release date has not been disclosed yet. The game will also feature in the upcoming Steam Next Fest with a playable demo, so make sure to keep an eye out. Also, check out the official trailer below to get a glimpse of the horrors ahead.
Devil of the Plague is a 1–4 player cooperative horror experience that is full of tension, teamwork, and emergent fear. Players must cleanse cursed regions, perform forbidden rituals, and fight to survive as a supernatural plague spreads across the land. Rather than relying on scripted scares, the game allows fear to grow naturally through player decisions, missteps, and the fragile coordination between teammates.
The game’s narrative draws heavily from ancient Sumerian mythology, centering on the demon Asag—an entity whose corruption predates the formation of the world itself. Asag’s poisonous breath rises from beneath the earth, infecting kingdoms and reducing once-great civilizations to decay. Mountains rot, rivers darken, and cities collapse under the weight of his curse. Yet Asag never remains in one place for long, instead traveling from region to region in a relentless attempt to resurrect himself through spreading devastation.
Players take on the role of the last healers belonging to a secretive cult sworn to oppose this ancient evil. Their mission is to disrupt Asag’s dark designs, sever the roots of the plague through powerful rituals, and protect those not yet consumed by corruption. From abandoned fortresses and cursed temples to forgotten dungeons and haunted coastlines, every location represents another battleground in humanity’s final stand against the darkness.
