Monolith Soft Released Two Titles in a Year
As 2025 draws to a close, many game studios are beginning their end-of-year sign-off, and Japanese developer Monolith Soft has now done the same. Known widely for its work on the Xenoblade Chronicles series throughout the Nintendo Switch era, the studio took a moment on social media to reflect on the past year and thank fans for their continued support.
Check out the translated message:
“Monolith Soft’s last day of work for the year is today. This year saw the release of two titles: “Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition” and “Mario Kart World,” on which we worked as a subcontractor. All our staff will continue to work hard next year as well. We look forward to your continued support.”

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition launched earlier this year in March and has since received compatibility updates to support the Switch 2. The release helped bring renewed attention to the expansive science fiction RPG, introducing it to a wider audience while improving its technical performance. Meanwhile, Monolith Soft also played a key role in Mario Kart World, where it was responsible for developing several of the game’s fields as well as contributing to character designs.
Beyond these releases, the studio has also remained active in celebrating its legacy. Earlier this month, Monolith Soft marked the eighth anniversary of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 by sharing striking new artwork. The developer also published an interview reflecting on its long-standing involvement with the Zelda series, offering insight into its creative contributions. With 2026 on the horizon, Monolith Soft appears ready to continue building on its strong reputation.
