An Eerie Mystery Awaits in Grave Regrets
Indie developer Studio Grail has revealed Grave Regrets, a dark visual novel blending psychological horror with surreal detective mystery, all wrapped in a striking Japanese anime style. The studio describes it as “the lovechild between Silent Hill and Twin Peaks but make it a visual novel,” The Steam page and game trailer, now live on IGN Game Trailers, offer the first glimpse into its unsettling world.

Grave Regrets immerses players in a haunting story that explores grief, fragile relationships, and human obsession, while delving into themes of justice and guilt. Players navigate a tightly written, branching narrative with multiple endings, where every choice carries weight, and unnecessary exposition is kept to a minimum.
The game’s atmosphere is amplified by its original soundtrack, composed by Yoh Ohyama, a veteran of ZIZZ STUDIO. Ohyama has created notable visual novels and anime-inspired soundtracks, including Saya no Uta and Demonbane. His recent projects include serving as recording engineer for Silent Hill f and music director for Dolls Nest, bringing a wealth of experience in crafting mood and tension through music.
Grave Regrets will arrive on PC, macOS, and Linux; however, there is no specific release date yet. The game will initially be available in English, with Japanese localization considered depending on the success of a future Kickstarter campaign. With its blend of eerie visuals, psychological storytelling, and haunting melodies, Grave Regrets positions itself as a standout entry for fans of dark, narrative-driven experiences.
