Enjoy a Cozy Holiday in Escape Simulator 2
Just two months after its release, indie developer Pine Studio has rolled out the first free update for Escape Simulator 2, bringing a festive twist to its puzzle-driven world. The Holiday Update introduces a Christmas-themed escape room packed with playful challenges, clever traps, and lighthearted seasonal chaos. Inspired by classic holiday films such as Home Alone, the new content leans into mischievous design while staying true to the game’s focus on smart problem-solving. The update is available now at no extra cost for all players who own the game.
Alongside the new room, Pine Studio has expanded Room Editor 2.0 with a selection of winter and Christmas-themed props. These additions allow creators to design and share their own festive escape rooms, complete with snowy decorations and holiday-inspired puzzles. It further strengthens the game’s already active community-driven content scene.
Since launching on 27 October, Escape Simulator 2 has attracted more than 250,000 players and received a strong response from fans of the genre. The game currently offers 12 handcrafted escape rooms spread across three distinct themes, ranging from a cursed pirate ship to an abandoned starship. In addition, players can explore hundreds of community-made rooms created using the robust editor tools.
Escape Simulator 2 supports both solo play and cooperative sessions, with a dedicated lobby room that makes teaming up with friends simple and seamless. Enhanced physics and environmental interactions add to the feeling of stepping into a real escape room, where nearly every object invites experimentation.
Pine Studio has confirmed that more themed content packs are in development, with additional updates planned for early 2026. Escape Simulator 2 is available on Steam for £14.99, €16.99, or $19.99, with a 20 percent discount running until 5 January.
