Welcome to the World of Puzzling Places
Puzzling Places, the well-loved VR jigsaw puzzle game built around detailed 3D dioramas of real-world locations, is celebrating the holiday season with a substantial free update. This release introduces a brand new game mode, a fully redesigned menu, improved hand tracking, refreshed puzzles, and stronger Mixed Reality support.
The headline addition is Journey Mode, created for players who enjoy a relaxed, low-effort approach to puzzling. Designed specifically with Mixed Reality and hand tracking in mind, this mode removes the need to manage or rotate large numbers of pieces. It also works well in smaller play spaces. Rather than showing the full puzzle at once, Journey Mode starts with a single central piece. The game then provides small groups of pieces to attach step by step, letting the scene gradually expand outward. This guided structure delivers a steady and calming sense of progression through each location.
Hand Tracking 2.0 brings noticeable improvements to responsiveness and precision. Grabbing and releasing pieces feels more reliable, while new fingertip color indicators clearly show interactive elements. Updated tutorials ease new players into the system, and natural gestures such as poking to inspect details, dragging to switch tabs, and tossing pieces back to the wall help interactions feel more intuitive.
The in-game menu has also received a complete visual refresh, featuring a brighter color palette and a cleaner layout. The new start screen highlights quick start options, personal puzzle statistics, and curated pack suggestions. Browsing the library is easier thanks to larger thumbnails, and ratings for puzzles and packs are now visible directly in the store.
Finally, the update refreshes the base game puzzle selection with popular community favorites. The team has fully remastered four standout puzzles, adding enhanced animations, effects, and sound to deliver a polished first experience for new players.
