Ground of Aces Rolls Out Its Major Update 2

Time to Heal in the Ground of Aces

Blindflug Studios, the Swiss Polish indie team behind the WWII base-building strategy game Ground of Aces, has released its second major update, titled “First Aid.” Following a strong community reception with an 85% positive rating on Steam, the studio continues to refine and deepen the game’s focus on the human stories within the airfield. This update introduces the Health & Injury System, a feature that adds realism and emotional depth by making every crew member’s well-being a crucial part of the experience.

Major Update 2 marks an important milestone in the game’s evolution, bringing new layers of strategy and immersion to life on a wartime airbase. Players will now face the realities of injury and recovery, as personnel can be hurt during missions or attacks. To care for their teams, players can assign doctors and nurses, build recovery facilities, and transform parts of their base into functioning field hospitals using new props.

The update also expands the game’s historical authenticity by introducing members of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (W.A.A.F.), who join the airfield as part of the crew. Their presence broadens the narrative scope and highlights the essential roles women played in supporting the war effort.

“This update makes planning and organizing your airfield in Ground of Aces even more exciting,” says Moritz Zumbühl, Executive Producer at Blindflug Studios. “War isn’t just about planes and missions; it’s about the men and women who kept those planes flying. With the addition of health, recovery, and the W.A.A.F., the stories you experience with your crew become that much more personal and compelling.”
