Dead Format First Playable Demo Is Now Live on Steam

Find Your Missing Brother in Dead Format

Katanalevy and Oro Interactive have unveiled the first public demo for their upcoming survival horror game, Dead Format, now available on Steam. This chilling experience invites players to explore two VHS tapes, each serving as a gateway into a nightmarish world inspired by classic film eras. Every element of Dead Format has been crafted exclusively for the game, with all VHS footage recorded and edited by Katanalevy to capture the distinctive texture and tone of each cinematic period.

Between journeys into the tapes, players return to their apartment, a fragile sanctuary where they can recover, study clues, and piece together the unsettling mystery of a missing brother. It is a space for reflection and preparation before diving back into the horrors lurking within the tapes.

The demo introduces players to two distinct worlds. One channels the eerie atmosphere of 1930s silent horror, while the other draws on the grotesque body horror of the 1980s, echoing the tension and visual style of films like Alien and The Thing. As players navigate these twisted realms, they will face lurking dangers, solve intricate puzzles, and fight to survive against forces beyond comprehension.

To mark the demo’s release, Oro Interactive has also launched a new trailer, offering a glimpse into the tone, style, and dread awaiting in the full version of Dead Format, set to arrive later in 2025. The demo captures the unsettling beauty of analog horror, blending nostalgia with fear in a way that feels both familiar and deeply disturbing. Those brave enough to enter the world of Dead Format can download the demo now and experience the terror one tape at a time. You can also check out the latest trailer right below.
