Macabre Brings Extraction Horror on Steam Early Access Today

Enter the Time Rift in Macabre

Weforge Studio has launched its co-op stealth extraction horror game, Macabre, onto Steam Early Access today. It marks a major milestone for the independent team. The launch arrives with a cinematic trailer and a developer-made tutorial. This will help new players through the fundamentals of survival within the game’s shifting dimension known as the Rift.

In Macabre, players step into a collapsing time Rift where danger lurks in every shadow. A relentless interdimensional entity adapts to player strategies, forcing constant improvisation and teamwork. With guidance from the mysterious NPC Banjo, groups must scavenge for resources, navigate procedurally generated maps, and work together to extract safely. Each playthrough offers different objectives and unpredictable threats, creating a blend of tension, betrayal, and survival where no two runs feel alike.

The title has already generated significant interest, surpassing 250,000 wishlists on Steam. Its recent demo during Steam Next Fest secured a spot among the Top 50 most played titles, signaling strong anticipation for the Early Access release.

“Macabre is built around tension, teamwork, and unpredictability. The adaptive AI and procedural systems ensure no two runs feel the same. Early Access lets us refine and expand those systems with player feedback,” said Jake Davey, Game Director.

“This is the moment we have worked toward for more than four years. From late-night prototypes to a life-changing Kickstarter, Macabre is finally in players’ hands. Early Access gives us the runway to keep building, testing, and evolving the game together with our community,” said Jay Topping, Creative Director.

With its foundation of stealth, survival, and cooperative strategy, Macabre now invites players worldwide to step into the Rift and help shape the future of the game alongside its creators.
