Turbo Kid Hits Nintendo Switch Tomorrow, With a Major PC Update Too

Things Are Getting Gory in Turbo Kid

Outerminds Inc. has officially announced that Turbo Kid will release on Nintendo Switch on August 5. Set in a bizarre post-apocalyptic wasteland, this single-player metroidvania adventure lets you ride your BMX, gear up with your Turbo Glove, and hack through a world packed with mayhem, mutants, and over-the-top gore.

You’ll play as the Kid, a lone hero armed with a machete and a ridiculously powerful arsenal of circular saws, rockets, lightning, and ooze. Battle through enemies in whatever order you choose. Along the way, you’ll meet eccentric characters with strange quests and shady advice. They will also shape your journey with choices that affect your path. Or just skip the chatter and blaze through the chaos in pure speedrun fashion.

To mark the Switch launch, PC players aren’t left out. August 5 also brings a major update. Highlights include:

– Japanese and Simplified Chinese language support

– Halved secondary weapon costs for more combat variety

– Improved Ooze Gun with longer-lasting puddles

– More accurate Rockets

– Upgraded Lightning Gun performance

– Better optimization for lower-end machines

– General bug fixes and polish

Switch players can now request their digital code, which will also work on the upcoming Switch 2.

Based on the cult favorite 2015 sci-fi action film, Turbo Kid began as a fan-demanded project. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2021, the game launched on PC in April 2024. Now, it is set to reach a new audience, promising fast-paced action, ridiculous weapons, and a world that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
