Out and About Has Arrived on Steam Early Access

Start Identifying Plants in Out and About

Scottish German indie studio Yaldi Games has launched Out and About, a charming foraging adventure on Steam Early Access. Set in the tranquil seaside town of Portobello, the game invites players to slow down, explore, and discover the wonders of the natural world.

Following a devastating storm that has left Portobello in disrepair, players take on the task of helping the community rebuild. To restore the town, you must understand and harness the plants and fungi that grow in the surrounding wilderness. Even in its early access, Out and About features over 50 real wild plants and fungi to find and identify. The full release is planned to include more than 100.

Foraging is just the beginning. Gather your finds to cook hearty recipes, craft herbal remedies, and share your creations with neighbors. As you explore meadows, forests, and coastline, you will forge friendships with Portobello’s residents. Each of them is working toward a shared goal of sustainability and resilience.

The game’s educational aspect extends beyond the screen as its plant identification system mirrors real-life knowledge, giving players insights they can apply outside the game. The detailed illustrations, seasonal changes, and gentle soundtrack create a cozy yet enriching atmosphere that blends relaxation with learning.

Originally a Kickstarter project, Out and About achieved remarkable success, raising 380 percent of its funding goal. Now, with early access underway, Yaldi Games is inviting players to join the journey, experience its evolving world, and contribute feedback that will help shape the final release.

Whether you are foraging for mushrooms, cooking with freshly gathered herbs, or simply taking in the scenery, Out and About offers a heartfelt reminder of the quiet magic found in nature and community.
