Be Careful to Switch 2 Users
Nintendo has issued a safety advisory for Switch 2 owners, urging caution when using the new console outdoors during extreme summer temperatures. The company posted the warning on its Japanese customer support social media account. It highlights the device’s recommended operating range of 5°C to 35°C.

With temperatures in Japan soaring past 35°C and expected to reach 37°C in Tokyo on August 5, Nintendo reminded users that playing the Switch 2 in such conditions could lead to overheating and potential malfunctions.
This isn’t the first time the company has addressed heat-related concerns. Nintendo issued a similar advisory for the original Switch in July 2022 during another intense heatwave. At the time, it also warned users to keep intake and exhaust ports clear to avoid internal heat buildup.
Nintendo emphasized that both the original Switch and Switch 2 are vulnerable in high temperatures. If used in extreme heat, the internal temperature of the device may rise significantly, possibly affecting performance or causing the system to shut down to prevent damage.
To avoid issues, Nintendo recommends using the console indoors in a cooler environment, away from direct sunlight. In short, summer might be the perfect excuse to stay inside, close the curtains, and enjoy your favorite games in comfort.
