A Huge Success for Boulder Dash
Gamescom 2025 closed on a high note for BBG Entertainment, whose booth became a lively hub throughout the week. The Munich-based publisher drew several thousand visitors eager to relive gaming history and experience the debut of Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary.

Fans enjoyed pure retro nostalgia playing the original Boulder Dash on classic systems like the C64, NES, Amiga, and Atari. The spotlight, however, belonged to the world premiere of Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary, which launched on August 21, 2025, for PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation. The Nintendo Switch edition will follow on August 28 in North America and September 4 in Europe.
Adding to the excitement were daily contests and the international championship final, organized with EIGHT BIT ESPORTS. Visitors of all ages joined in, with hundreds of mugs, mousepads, and buttons handed out as prizes. The Saturday grand finale brought together top players from Warsaw and Rome’s Master Challenges, including Adam Strzelczyk and Lukas Schimm. In a nail-biting three-round match, Mike Bergmann emerged victorious over Peter Voß and Claudia Kleinhans. It delivered a true highlight for the crowd.
The booth was also a hotspot for influencers such as Max Schradin. His presence helped keep the space buzzing with energy.
Reflecting on the event, Stephan Berendsen, Managing Director of BBG Entertainment, said: “We are thrilled by the response and passion of the community. Gamescom 2025 has shown that classics like BOULDER DASH have lost none of their fascination—quite the opposite,”
With its mix of nostalgia, competition, and a celebrated new release, BBG Entertainment closed Gamescom 2025 on a triumphant note, thanking all visitors and partners for making the event unforgettable.
