Check Out the Trailer of Basalt: The Cursed Vein
Norwegian studio Rubarb has revealed Basalt: The Cursed Vein, a roguelite match-3 game that transforms a familiar puzzle format into a tense battle against collapsing mines, strange monsters, and your own obsession to dig deeper. The trailer, which premiered during The Mix Fall Showcase, shows off its gritty mining town setting and a twist on the classic match-3 formula that pushes players further underground with each successful run.
Basalt: The Cursed Vein combines mining, town building, and roguelite progression. Players descend into cursed shafts to collect ores and rare resources, which can then be used to rebuild a ruined settlement. Restoring the town unlocks new bombs, tools, and permanent upgrades, giving players the edge they need to venture further on their next descent. Each run is a fresh challenge, with randomized enemy types, upgrade choices, and bomb effects forcing you to rethink your approach.
The heart of the strategy lies in creating synergies between the upgrades and items you uncover. Finding combinations that complement each other can turn a dangerous dig into a rewarding expedition. Push further, and you will uncover richer veins of resources and tougher foes that test your endurance. Every successful run not only strengthens your town but also tempts you to return for just one more attempt.
While its match-3 roots might look familiar, Rubarb’s dark twist makes every choice carry weight. Each match drags you deeper, every upgrade fuels your obsession, and the warning remains the same: do not dig too deep.
