Heirloom Interactive, a newly formed studio made up of seasoned industry professionals, has revealed a teaser for its debut title, I Want Your Castle. This upcoming game draws inspiration from classic turn-based strategy titles and blends them with mechanics found in traditional adventure board games. Set to launch on Kickstarter this autumn, the game is being described as a heartfelt project rooted in the team’s long-standing love for both video games and tabletop experiences.
Co-founder Jakob Tuchten shared that I Want Your Castle is more than a strategic title; it is a personal homage to the games and board-based adventures the team grew up with. “This is a passion project where we’re taking aspects from board games we loved growing up, and meshing them with deep strategic gameplay,” Tuchten explained.
The teaser highlights the game’s distinct hand-painted 2D art style and sets the tone for a whimsical yet nostalgic fantasy world. Heirloom describes the game as an homage to the fantasy of yesteryear. It aims to capture a time when heroes looked less polished and more relatable. “We’re sending a love letter to the era of fantasy aesthetics when your hero looked more like a dork and less like a fashion model,” Tuchten added.
While the teaser offers only a glimpse, Heirloom Interactive has promised more details in the lead-up to the Kickstarter campaign. The full announcement might arrive later this year, bringing deeper insights into the game’s mechanics and its blend of strategic and narrative elements.
