Retrofiction Games’ acclaimed pixel art survival horror game Dead of Darkness is set to launch worldwide on all major consoles on July 2, 2025. It will be available digitally for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and the Microsoft Store for Windows.
Blending classic top-down gameplay with cinematic storytelling, Dead of Darkness follows two protagonists, Miles and Olivia, each with their own reasons for investigating the mysteries of Velvet Island. The story unfolds through fully voiced performances and HD character portraits, featuring 25 spoken roles. Originally released on Steam, the game earned a 90 percent “Very Positive” rating, praised for its engaging narrative, strong voice acting, and challenging but fair survival mechanics.
The console release is being published by Eastasiasoft Limited and includes text language support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, and Simplified Chinese, with voiceovers in English. The digital edition is priced at 15.99 US dollars or 15.99 Euros. A 20% launch discount will be available for a limited time in select regions and platforms.
