Welcome to the Hardcore Circus
Indie developer PocketsOfEnergy has released a brand new gameplay and story trailer for Hardcore Circus, along with Demo Update v1.1, now available on Steam. The brutally challenging precision platformer continues to evolve, offering smoother gameplay, new mechanics, and expanded features for both new players and leaderboard climbers.
The latest demo patch introduces performance optimizations across levels and several visual enhancements, including dual colored fog for richer atmospheres. Players will now use a unicycle as the default movement style, emphasizing the game’s quirky difficulty. Directional arrows have been adjusted to appear only when attached to rotating wheels, streamlining the HUD during intense sequences.
One of the standout additions is level selection from the main menu. While this won’t affect your leaderboard standing, it gives players more freedom to explore specific areas. The update also brings multilingual support via a new language selection option and introduces fresh obstacles to the Castle and Ocean levels.
Set in a sinister circus-themed underworld, Hardcore Circus follows Dik, an agile acrobat on a mission to rescue his brother from the Devil. With no weapons and only physics-based movement to rely on, every leap, bounce, and spin counts. Expect a gauntlet of sawblades, portals, trampolines, sharks, and other deadly surprises across Hell, Castle, and Ocean zones.
Players can test their skills in the demo’s time-based challenge and compete on the global Best Time Leaderboard. With its no handholding design, unique boss battles, and relentless difficulty, Hardcore Circus invites you to fail, learn, and try again until perfection is the only option.
