When games successfully cross the threshold that separates their world and ours, it’s always special. Of course, Call of Duty is no stranger to this phenomenon. Now, it’s once again involving the real world in a roll out. Today, In celebration of the highly anticipated return of Verdansk on April 3, Call of Duty: Warzone is bringing massive legendary loot boxes to real world locations. That’s right, gamers can now get looting in real life as they seek out these large loot crates straight out of the COD universe. A press release provides more details on this marketing roll out.

The Call of Duty: Warzone marketing activation is featuring drops in iconic cities around the world. Of course, these drops are visible by massive loot boxes. In fact, the boxes themselves are 17.5 feet long, 8 feet wide, 8 feet high, and weigh 2,400 pounds. Interestingly, the crates provide an opportunity for gamers to earn exclusive swag and in game rewards. All players need to do is snap a selfie with the loot box with the hashtag #VerdanskReturns, for the opportunity to win some Return to Verdansk gear. Or, gamers can scan a QR code for the in-game perks. 

Importantly, the Call of Duty: Warzone drops are located in four distinct cities around the world with a secret fifth location. The first location is Chicago: Pioneer Court – 401 N. The second is Los Angeles: Hollywood & Highland/Ovation – Hollywood Blvd between Highland Ave & Orange Dr. The third and fourth are Paris: LA Defense and London: Riverside / The Scoop. Interestingly, there is a fifth secret location yet to be revealed.
