Help the Girls in Mokoko X
The indie game studio NAISU has officially released its nostalgic arcade game Mokoko X on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It is also available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox series S/X, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
Mokoko X draws inspiration from classic arcade games like Volfied, Qix, and Gals Panic. However, it comes with a modern twist. In the game, you’ll help eight girls through absurd situations. This includes battling kitchen insects and overcoming mobile game levels. The gameplay revolves around capturing parts of the screen while fending off enemies.
Players need a mix of strategy and timing to keep their shield active, as stepping outside their territory makes them vulnerable. The game has three difficulty levels that tweak enemy behavior, shield depletion, and the amount of screen coverage needed to win. There are 32 levels with unique bosses and challenges.
Additionally, the game features fully animated Japanese and English voiceovers, bringing each level to life with funny backstories about the bosses and girls. The game offers charming graphics, tricky traps, towers, bonus effects, and an arcade mode with real-time high scores. Players encounter wild enemies and wacky stories like fighting ghost pirates or aiding a character who’s been turned into a mosquito.
