Legend of Grimrock Slashing and Crawling to Nintendo Switch

Old School Dungeon Crawling

The heart of golden era RPG’s is still beating within the genre. Old-school mechanics meet modern sensibilities in an adventure coming to Switch players. Prepare to enter Grimrock. It’s a fight for survival in the most wicked mountain imaginable. Hopefully you have what it takes. Today, Almost Human Games is happy to announce the release date for the Nintendo Switch version of their dungeon crawler RPG, Legend of Grimrock. Releasing for the Switch on January 15th, the game invites players to adventure through the vile mountain of Grimrock as they hunt for their freedom. Of course, the Switch port is arriving almost eleven years after the release of the game. Yet, Almost Human’s co-founder Antti Tiihonen provides some insight on how the port came about.

Legend of Grimrock

“All of us at Almost Human have had other things to do besides Legend of Grimrock in recent years so why should we do a port of a game that’s almost 11 years old already?” Says Tiihonen in a press release, “Most of our decisions aren’t driven by business development plans or market analysis and this one was no exception since we did the project simply because it was enjoyable for us. We anticipate this release will rekindle the excitement of many of the old fans of the game.”

Legend of Grimrock is a classic style dungeon crawler that allows player to tap into their inner adventurer. Importantly, the game features real-time strategic combat with the classic grid-based movement. Yet, the adventure also places emphasis on exploration, puzzles, wits, and perception. Of course, this means the players own mind is just as important as their sword can be. Check out the Switch trailer below for a glimpse of the port.

Legend of Grimrock is releasing for the Nintendo Switch on January 15th. Additionally, the game is currently available on PC via Steam.
