What’s truly remarkable is the reduction in size – this new model is over 30% smaller in volume and 18% to 24% lighter compared to its predecessors. It boasts four distinct cover panels, with the top panel featuring a glossy finish, while the bottom panel retains its matte appearance. For those who opt for the Digital Edition, the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive can be added later, as it will also be available separately for 79.99 USD | 119.99 EURO | 99.99 GBP | 11,980 JPY.
The launch of the new model is set to commence this November in the U.S., with availability at select local retailers and direct.playstation.com where possible. A global rollout will follow in the ensuing months, eventually making the new PS5 the exclusive model once the current inventory is depleted.
