Sony’s PlayStation Plus 12-Month Subscription Prices Set to Rise Globally
PlayStation has recently unveiled a strategic move to increase the price of its PlayStation Plus subscriptions. This appears across all tiers on a global scale.
Commencing on September 6, gamers will see price adjustments on three subscriptions. The 12-month plans for PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra, and PlayStation Plus Premium.
The new pricing structure for the 12-month subscriptions is as follows:
- PlayStation Plus Essential 12-Month Subscription will be priced at $79.99 / €71.99 / £59.99.Â
- The PlayStation Plus Extra 12-Month Subscription is set at $134.99 / €125.99 / £99.99.Â
- PlayStation Plus Premium 12-Month Subscription will cost $159.99 / €151.99 / £119.99 GBP.
Meanwhile, Sony defended this price adjustment with a statement posted on the PlayStation Blog. They’re suggesting that the increase is aimed at maintaining the delivery of high-quality games and value-added benefits within the PlayStation Plus subscription service.
Interestingly, even with the price hike, the 12-month subscription rates remain at a discounted level. This doesn’t remain the same for the one-month or three-month options when spread over a year.
However, current 12-month subscribers need not worry immediately, as the new pricing won’t impact them until their renewal date post-November 6. However, any alterations made to memberships, like upgrades or extensions, starting from September 6 will be subject to the revised pricing.
Similarly, this change in PlayStation Plus pricing closely follows Microsoft’s recent increase in Xbox Game Pass rates. As a result, the gaming community continues to evolve but fans will have to adapt to its ever-expanding price ratesÂ
