Get Ready to Set the Stage in NHL 24
EA has officially revealed the release date and cover star of the upcoming NHL 24. It confirmed that the game will roll its way onto PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on 6 October 2023.
Cale Makar, the superstar defenseman of the Colorado Avalanche will be the game’s cover athlete. And one of the key features of this new game is the Exhaust Engine. This engine is powered by Frostbite and the main goal is to “let players experience concentrated moments of intensity that Hocket is known for.”
The Exhaust Engine incorporates both the Sustained Pressure System and the Goalie Fatigue System. The Sustained Pressure System rewards offensive players who display aggressive gameplay in the attacking zone and leading to some highly impactful plays. This is accomplished by temporarily reducing your opponent’s attributes and generating increased room for maneuvering while establishing strategic opportunities.
The Goalie Fatigue system affects the performance of the goalie. He won’t be able to protect the goal properly as more shots come his way. It will also feature 75 new animations to help this optimization.
Not only this, there will be a new Physics-Based Contact system. It “will revolutionize physical contact and deliver realistic body checks like never before.” Players will now be able to give more focus on generating turnovers, shattering glass, and even forcing their opponent to the bench.
Moreover, NHL 24 will have an enhanced cross-play functionality that enables players to engage in various modes with their friends. It will span across both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PS4 and Xbox One. This includes popular modes like Hockey Ultimate Team and World of Chel.
The game is also introducing HUT moments which will enable players to perform some of the most incredible moments in hockey.
