Hidden Machinations
FromSoftware has not made a game in their mech fighter series since before the release of Dark Souls II. For many fans, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be their first AC game. While there are many differences between AC and a Soulsborne, there are several similarities that big brain gamers will notice.
Not only are FromSoftware games known for their difficulty, but they use common design themes. Most titles have very linear paths, but there are points where players can make choices that affect the outcomes of the game. Elden Ring, the Dark Souls games, Sekiro, Demon’s Souls, and several Armored Core games have multiple endings. This feature will persist with Armored Core VI.
In an interview with GGRecon, developers at FromSoftware spoke of their upcoming game. They say that at a certain point in the game, the player will get different missions and requests from opposing factions. This is where choosing your missions can affect the ending of the game.
There are also missions with large open areas, with hidden encounters and collectibles. Finding all these optional points of interest and fighting hidden bosses will unlock more gear. Simply put, the more you explore, the more weapons and parts will be at your disposal.
Obviously, the developers aren’t giving anything away. However, if our preview can tell us anything, it is that the series will be getting many more new fans when AC VI officially launches.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be coming out on August 25th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
