Diablo IV Latest Update Introduces Initial Balance Changes

Diablo IV Latest Update Introduces Initial Balance Changes

The Diablo franchise is one of the biggest in video game history, as it was a trendsetter in the ARPG genre. Diablo IV is set to officially release on June 6th, 2023, however fans that pre-ordered the game were given early access from June 2nd. Furthermore, the game is officially available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. As players have begun to try out different builds, Blizzard Entertainment and the development team have introduced a patch to make some balance changes.

In the patch notes for the update, the team noted that they are generally happy with the class balance thus far, but that there was always room for improvement. Therefore, the developers made changes bearing in mind three categories that will affect different builds in the game. Firstly, Paragon Glyphs are providing too much power to players, so their effectiveness has been reduced. Secondly, some skills and builds are not as strong as expected, and have been buffed. Thirdly, some builds have been reduced in effectiveness to prevent players from outputting too much damage for long periods of time.

In closing, the developers stated,  “An ideal we have carried throughout development and will uphold is that Class balance is a journey, not a destination. We want more Class builds to be fun, powerful, and competitive within reason.”  Moreover, there are details of the specific changes in the patch notes.
