Layers of Fear Release Date Announced, Demo Available Now

Now Is Not the Time For Fear, That Comes Later

Somehow, Bloober Team has gotten away with releasing a game called Layers of Fear in 2016 and then a completely separate game with the same title just seven years later. Somebody has to stop them! Actually, it sounds like this will be the end of the series anyway.

Earlier this week, a demo for this game was released on Steam. Bloober Team says that testing will run all week and end on May 22nd. Hopefully, the demo will still be available after that date though. The developers also released the recommended and required PC specs for Layers of Fear.

What is even more exciting is that we also have a release date. Just a month from now, it will be coming out on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

What is this game though? Why doesn’t it have a new name? Well, Bloober Team is trying something kind of different. Instead of just having a sequel, Layers of Fear (2023) will be a reimagining of the previous games. The stories and lore they explore are being stitched together into one experience. It is also adding to the story with a third character.

The first game focused on The Painter. The second game introduced The Actor. This installment concludes with The Writer. Layers of Fear also expands on The Painter’s story with a brand new chapter called The Last Note.

Layers of Fear will be coming out on June 15th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
