Monument Valley Heads to Steam
Monument Valley launched to the gaming public back in 2014 for iOS and Android devices. It was one of the fan-favorite mobile games of its time. Finally, the original game—along with its 2017 sequel—are heading to PC users via an updated Panoramic Edition.
The PC version of the game will feature a new PC-specific control scheme as well as updated graphics that support ultra-wide displays.
“Through making this new edition of Monument Valley, we really wanted to hold onto that immersive, meditative experience that you experience on a touch screen or a mobile phone,” said Ustwo Games Commercial Manager Jame Campbell. “We very much recreate that in this new expanded world.”
Monument Valley seems deceptively simple. It is visually striking yet has a vaguely sad back story about a princess who is on her quest for forgiveness. Players will have to guide her across bizarre structures by manipulating the latter to change angles, unlock hidden paths, and open doors.
It all sounds too easy, but these puzzles can be tricky too. The mission is to experience a journey across the game’s beautifully magical landscape that is filled with secrets and wonder. With that said, players may not have to pull their hair out in frustration.
“You are almost stepping more into the world of Monument Valley,” Campbell continued. “Seeing more of this beautiful architecture and geometry and the impossibility that makes the puzzles so unique.”
Both the original Monument Valley game from 2014 and its 2017 sequel are going to be updated for the PC release. The new versions will include all original content. They will also have their previous DLCs. They are due for their Steam debut on July 12th. Thankfully for fans, they can get the games individually or with a discounted bundle.
