Honor Among Thieves
One moment can change a life forever. For one man, in Edo period Japan, it is a heist gone wrong. Today Acquire Corps. announced their latest project, a stealth action game, Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief. In addition to the announcement comes a reveal trailer. The trailer shows off the gameplay and what players can expect from the game.Â
Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief introduces players to an amateurs thief named Ebizo. A Robinhood type thief Ebizo wants to steal from the rich and give to the poor. However, during their first mission Ebizo and his mentor witness their own men killing innocent. His mentor orders him to escape with the only survivor a lone girl. A decade later, the girl falls ill, and now it’s back to stealing.Â
The game revolves around stealth mechanics and player choices. As Ebizo players will learn to avoid enemy detection with a number of stealthy thief techniques. Of course, as you complete more jobs your reputation will grow, and soon you’ll be a master thief. However, will you remain an honorable thief or will you forsake your morality. In Kamiwaza the choices player make will impact their relationships with other characters, with themselves, and even where the game takes them.Â
The reveal trailer for the game shows off the gameplay of course. However, players will also get to see somewhat dated graphics that originally belonged to the PS2 game Kamiwaza.Â
Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief is set for release in the fall of 2022. It will release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC via Steam. So, what kind of thief will you become?Â
