Make Sure You Are Ready for the Launch of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen
It is time to start getting ready for the launch of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen. The expansion is set to launch on February 22, and servers will be going down the night before. You will also be able to pre-load the expansion on the 21 as well, so you are ready to go as soon as it launches.
Here is the current rundown on the launch of The Witch Queen:
- February 21, 18:45 PM PT / 21:45 PM ET: Destiny 2 is brought offline.
- February 21, 19:00 PM PT / 22:00 PM ET: Pre-load for Update 4.0.0.1 will be available on all platforms.
- February 22, 9:00 AM PT / 12:00 PM ET: Destiny 2 will be brought back online. Update 4.0.0.1 will be playable on all platforms and regions.
- February 22, 10:00 AM PT / 13:00 PM ET: Destiny 2 maintenance is scheduled to complete.
If you are getting the expansion on PS4, it is going to take a bit longer. PS4 owners will essentially have to re-download all of Destiny 2 before they can enjoy The Witch Queen. On the plus side, this will lead to a smaller file size overall and will make future updates easier on the console.
It is almost time to see just what The Witch Queen will bring to Destiny 2. I’ve been a fan of the Destiny series since it first launched. So I’m excited to continue the adventure and get new weapons, stories, and powers.
It is a shame that the launch of The Witch Queen also gets rid of Forsaken. Forsaken is currently the best Destiny 2 expansion, so losing that content is pretty lame. My hope is now that Bungie has the backing of Sony, they can figure out how to bring this old content back. It’s never fun to lose access to content you paid for.
