The Bloodborne PS1 Demake Is Out Now

Check Out Bloodborne as You’ve Never Seen It With This PS1 Demake

The Bloodborne demake is now available. You can now play Bloodborne as intended, as if it released on the PS1. As someone who grew up on the PS1, I find this fascinating. I’m not sure if it is actually any good, but I’m absolutely going to play it.

This demake, titled BloodbornePSX, is available over on Itch.io. It was created by the talented developer Lilith Walther AKA b0tster, who has done an impressive job of re-creating the look and feel of a PS1 game. It is impressive she was able to do this while still maintaining the look of Bloodborne.

Walther had this to say when speaking to IGN:

“I was inspired by seeing mockup screenshots of demade games in a post that went viral in around 201. Bloodborne was a year or so old at that point but it was still fresh on my mind as my favorite game and I went to the logical conclusion to ‘make it real’ I made a prototype that year but stopped so I could finish my indie game. After that was done I took a short break and started the project over for real in January 2021.”

The Bloodborne PS1 demake is certainly impressive. To re-create the dark and wonderful world of Bloodborne and still maintain that atmosphere while making it look and play like a PS1 game takes skill and passion. I’m also very happy that FromSoftware has allowed this project to happen. You never know with these games if the developer or publisher will send out the dreaded cease and desist.
