Wargame Spiritual Successor WARNO Comes to Steam January 20
Today, Eugen Systems announced the spiritual successor to the popular Wargame, WARNO, is coming to Early Access next month. On January 20, players will be able to try out the new World War III battle simulator. Players should expect hundreds of new units and highly detailed battlefields, building on the base Wargame established.
WARNO (short for Warning Order) answers the question, “what if the Cold War didn’t end in 1989?”. NATO and Warsaw Pact’s arsenals will be at the player’s disposal as they try to navigate a world still torn apart. To do so, the game brings in-depth and realistic strategy to Cold War-era warfare. Each nation in the game has been painstakingly recreated and researched, each coming with its own strengths and weaknesses.
Players will take to the battlefield in solo matches against the advanced AI, co-op matches or online ranked matches against other players. These will take place on one of several new maps, each with a unique set of objectives. Maps will also feature a dynamic frontline that directly results in one side’s victory over the other.
In addition, turn-based Army General strategic campaigns will depict some of the battles that might have happened if the Cold War turned hot.
WARNO also features a great improvement of Eugen’s modern combat simulations. It promises to be more realistic and intense than its predecessor. This can be seen in the intense tactical military action in WARNO’s reveal trailer below.
WARNO brings along a whole host of quality-of-life enhancements, graphic improvements and a generally more realistic gaming experience for war strategists. Eugen will add new content, units, game mechanics, campaigns and more in continuous updates in Steam Early Access.
WARNO comes to Early Access on Steam on January 20, 2022. Players will have the choice to explore the Cold War-era arsenal of the United States or the Soviet Union. Which side will you choose?
