Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Hits Tenth Anniversary With Some Major Changes

The Iconic Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Hits Its Tenth Anniversary And Will Make Some Major Changes

The Ryu Ga Gotoku development studio is iconic in video games and is known for its two biggest series, Yakuza and Judgement. Both franchises had recent releases that were well received as it continues the lineage of quality games set in a unique universe. Today, the studio announced that it has hit its tenth anniversary and thanks all its fans for their support throughout the years, from the Judgement to Yakuza series and beyond. However, with its tenth anniversary comes change, as the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will transition to a new structure.

Toshihiro Nagoshi, former head of the studio, has announced his departure from Sega and is certain that the studio will continue in a positive direction as the series continue to live on. Daisuke Sato has also announced his departure from Sega and the studio. He will be replaced by different persons. Sato has had an important role in the Yakuza series as he served on the game’s development from the beginning, nine years ago. After ten years at the studio, he is ready to depart but also remains optimistic and certain that the future of the studio is in good hands.

Masayoshi Yokoyama, Director of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, released a statement on the studio’s future with some important tidbits. He confirmed that Yakuza: Like A Dragon will continue Ichiban Kasuga’s story and that the game is in development, with him and two others working on the story. He closed by stating, “Whether it’s six months or one year from now, I hope to show you a new Ryu Ga Gotoku title by a new Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio that is different but still the same, and something that will spark a feeling of “this is what we are waiting for” within you. I’d like to continue on my life as a video game creator with earnestness.”
