Apple Music Now Available on PS5 as a New Music App

Apple Music the Latest Music Addition to the PS5 Experience

While we have heard a lot of hype over PlayStation 5 and Apple working together, it still comes as a surprise to hear that Apple Music can now be streamed on the PlayStation 5. We’ve seen, for example, the offer for Apple TV for free on the PS5. Erin Metzger, the Director of Product Management at Sony Interactive Entertainment, was quick to promote Apple Music in the PlayStation blog today. It is, according to Metzger, the first console that will have the fully integrated Apple Music experience. Those who have the Apple Music subscription will be able to watch music videos, listen to over 90 million songs, various playlists both personalized and curated, as well as listen to different music stations on Apple Radio.

It’s not the easy download of the music app that’s the highlight for the PlayStation 5 though. It’s the fact that it’s offering seamless integration of background music before, during, and after gaming sessions. This is huge, considering this is a background application that’s supposed to play while you’re gaming. And apparently, Apple Music will also recommend playlists to go with your gaming experience or let players choose for themselves. This could certainly enhance the experience for those who are playing to soothe their stress, or to make things tenser during a horror game, making a perfect gaming atmosphere.

This makes for easier access for those already subscribed to Apple Music, and can easily start up the Apple Music app before players start their gaming session. Or, surprisingly, for those who decide they need music halfway through their gaming session or have forgotten can press the PS on DualSense wireless controller and go to the Control Center card, and select the Music function in order to jam to their tunes.

Still, the PlayStation 5 already possesses Spotify in its app store, offering the same service. It’s difficult to say if there will be a high amount of competition between the two streaming services or if one music service or the other will take the lead in offering music during the gaming experience.
