Partial Release of Game to Allow Playtesting for Short Time
The open beta dates for the upcoming futuristic FPS Battlefield 2042 have been announced today and will take place from October 6th to October 9th at the beginning of next month. As Battlefield 2042 was recently delayed by nearly a month to November 19th, 2021, it is a welcome surprise that the open beta is taking place so early for all players to experience and provide feedback on.
However, the open beta will not come complete with all content available. On the open beta website, it appears that only one conquest and one map will be showcased – the classic conquest mode and the new Orbital map. Conquest will be part of the “All-Out Warfare” category of maps, which will allow for up to a whopping 128 players. Meanwhile, the new Orbital map revolves around trying to stop a rocket launch, while dynamic weather dangers (think the giant tornado teased in the Battlefield 2042 reveal trailer).
In addition, four player classes will be available – a standard soldier with a grappling hook, a combat support medic, a defense oriented heavy machine gun operator with a sentry gun, and a stealth based sniper class. There will be a total of ten specialists in the final game, so expect more specialists to be revealed soon. Early access for the beta will be available October 6th – 7th for players who have pre-ordered Battlefield 2042 or are an EA Play member, while the more general player population will be able to start playing on the 8th, for a day until the beta closes on the 9th. The open-beta is available on the PC, Playstation, and Xbox.
