Stylish Shooter Severed Steel Announces Release Date

Mix Bullet-time Shooting and Parkour Tricks

Stylish shooter Severed Steel recently announced its release date in a gamescom trailer.  Featuring bullet-time combat and smooth movement, the indie shooter should definitely be on the radar list of any FPS fan.

If you haven’t checked out the game yet, the shooter essentially emulates an over the top action film.  Set in a gorgeous minimalist world with neon lighting, you shoot, parkour, and slo-mo your way to victory.  Think of a cross between Mirror’s Edge and Superhot, with even more moves, or stunts, added to your arsenal.

In combat, you can leap over enemies, performing a 180 degree somersault while shooting your gun.  You can slide under a table, bullets whizzing over your head.  You can wall run your way to a window, then dive through it to surprise enemies on the other side.  When all chained together, the game promises an incredibly smooth experience that puts you into the shoes of an action movie hero.

If any of the above description appeals to you, then you’ll be pleased to find out that the recent gamescom trailer places the release date to be September 17th of this year.  In addition, the trailer teases some pure wall-run parkour sections, so it’s possible that some of the levels may feature parkour-shooter mashups like in Titanfall 2’s campaign.

If you want to get a headstart on playing Severed Steel, you can try the free demo on Steam today.  Unfortunately, as the game’s recent beta has ended, you’ll have to wait for the game’s full release to try out some of the other features, like the map editor.
