Server Capacity For Battlefield 4 Increases Because of Battlefield 2042

Servers of the Future, Today

A couple of weeks ago, we got our first look at Battlefield 2042. Then at E3, the excitement was ramped up even further with the gameplay reveal. Though there are familiar elements that fans will expect, like massive ground battles, vehicle combat, and mixtures of the two, there are also going to be brand new experiences for players. I mean, there will have to be if this multiplayer-only game is going to succeed. Regardless, the hype is real, and fans are jumping back into Battlefield 4 in preparation of the new game.

It is not unusual for a previous game to get increased player numbers before the release of a new title, but the Battlefield community is making EA work a little harder than usual. Apparently, the increased number of players in Battlefield 4 has put a strain on the online servers, so much so, that EA has had to increase capacity to meet the fans’ excitement for the new game. Too many players is a good problem to have for multiplayer games. Though Battlefield 2042 is planning a beta, this return to Battlefield 4 should serve as a warning or a lesson for EA Dice that they may need their servers working at higher capacities right from the start.

In order to take part in the beta for Battlefield 2042, you will have to pre-order the game on your preferred platform. Battlefield 2042 will be available on October 22nd for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
