Neon White Looks Uncanny and Stylish

As Above, So Below

We have our weaknesses–you know, the little things a game can do that immediately make you sit up and pay attention. Pretty girls, fancy guns, scary demon masks, all that good stuff. Neon White‘s announcement trailer, which just dropped as part of today’s episode of Nintendo Direct, might as well be personally targeting us. Shadowy demons? Cool anime-style demon-slaying? Drama and mystery going down in the afterlife? A wide array of pretty characters, all wearing surprisingly ominous masks? We came out here to have a good time and we feel so attacked right now. Not that we’re complaining. All jokes aside, Neon White looks pretty awesome.

In this lightning-fast first-person action game, players take on the role of White, an assassin lifted from the depths of hell to wipe out a demon infestation in heaven. If he succeeds, he can stay in heaven permanently… but he’s far from the only one given this opportunity, and the other assassins seem suspiciously familiar. To figure out what’s really going on behind the scenes, you’ll have to get to know your fellows, even if they are the competition. Oh, and you’ll have to do a lot of demon-slaying, but that goes without saying.

The game features include:

  • You play as Neon White, an assassin plucked from Hell to compete with other demon slayers for a shot at redemption.
  • Collect “Soul Cards” to attack your foes or discard them to use unique movement abilities.
  • Compete for the best times by cleverly combining cards to discover massive shortcuts.
  • Uncover Heaven’s mysteries by getting to know the other assassins.

Make friends. Kill and re-kill your enemies. And most of all, enjoy those slick undead character designs reminiscent of the best parts of Bleach. We know we will.
