Microsoft’s Tastes Have Evolved
The Gal Gun games are a series of on-rails shooters where the player blasts schoolgirls (who are presumptively of age) with pleasure. The first game, Gal Gun was released in exclusively in Japan on Xbox 360 in 2011. It was then ported to PS3 the next year, still exclusive to Japan. The subsequent Gal Gun titles have all been released in the West, but earlier this year, a remaster of the first game, Gal Gun Returns was announced to be coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One with a world wide release. Unfortunately, Microsoft has backed out of that plan.
In a reverse-Christmas miracle, publisher PQube announced via the Gal Gun Twitter account that there would no longer be a Xbox One version of Gal Gun Returns. This is a strange move since Microsoft was the first party to allow the original game on their platform. There is a feature called Doki Doki Mode where the player can focus in on a girl and control the camera for *ahem* strategic angles. Mircosoft requested the that Alchemist, the publisher at the time implement a “Panty Protect Patch” that prevented the camera from going beneath a girl’s waist. They could have just demanded that PPP to also be implemented, but they pulled out entirely.
Announcement:The Xbox One release of “Gal*Gun Returns” has been cancelled. We sincerely apologize to fans who were anticipating its release. You can find more details on the game’s homepage. The Nintendo Switch and Steam versions will release as planned. #ぎゃるがん #galgun pic.twitter.com/T9xBEZzxyC

In a Twilight Zone turn of events, Nintendo Switch is the only console that will be supporting Gal Gun Returns. It will also be out on PC, but no owners of PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X will get their hands on the game. Gal Gun Returns is expected to launch on February 12th, 2021 for PC and Nintendo Switch.
