Days Gone Drops PS5 Specs

The Broken Road Just Got Prettier

Days Gone never really set the world on fire, despite the potential for doing so. The game can be described as a mash-up of Red Dead Redemption, Sons of Anarchy, and The Walking Dead: a wide open sandbox game that sees your character, Deacon St. John, exploring a post-apocalyptic Oregon beset by freakers – the game’s take on zombies. Where the game stands out from others is that it features hordes of freakers which have to be taken down, forcing Deacon to take every advantage he has. Unlike other games which feature hordes, like Dead Rising, Days Gone is played dead straight, with Deacon confronting vicious cults, militaristic camps, and his own dark past as he explores the beautifully rendered landscapes. It was a game I was personally pleasantly surprised to see as part of the PlayStation Plus Collection, and now we know how the game will run on the PS5.

That’s right; not only will the game implement dynamic 4k but, rather than being locked at 30fps on the PS4 Pro, the game will run all the way up to 60fps, ensuring that as broken as the road is, the ride will be smoother than ever before. Given that the original game had FPS issues when riding a bike, and some hordes have 500 freakers to compound the issue further, it really speaks for the power of the PS5 that they’ve managed to make the game run up to twice as smoothly.

The PS5 version of the game will also let you transfer your save files, making it a better time than ever to explore what the game’s New Game Plus has to offer and conquer every horde in the game.

Be honest: How long would you last in a zombie apocalypse? Let us know in the comments, on Twitter, or on Facebook.
