Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Boasts the Series’ Biggest Launch Yet

The People Want Vikings

We don’t know if you realized this, but Ubisoft is a pretty big gaming company, and Assassin’s Creed is a pretty big franchise. So when they put out an announcement declaring that Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla has had the most successful launch period of any AC game to date, we sat up and took notice. This next-gen launch title has only been out for a week and it’s already outsold the entire rest of the franchise–whoops, we worded that wrong. This next-gen launch title has only been out for a week and it’s already outsold every other AC game during their respective launch periods. There we go. Much less exciting, but sometimes you have to sacrifice excitement for the sake of accuracy. We must all make sacrifices for our art, even if that art is gaming journalism.

Why is this important? Well, as we established earlier, Ubisoft (and Assassin’s Creed) are pretty important landmarks in the gaming community. Also, Ubisoft is thrilled with the title’s success, which will definitely have an influence on where the series goes from here on out. Julien Laferrière, producer on Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, had this to say about the launch figures: “Launch is only the beginning and we have robust content plans for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that will keep players immersed in their epic Viking saga for a long time to come.”

That’s quite the promise! We can’t wait to see what the team has in store for us down the road, but that doesn’t mean we’re anywhere near done with Valhalla. It’s time to share another set of numbers that we guarantee will entertain you. Since launch, Valhalla players have unlocked over 55 million buildings and won over 3.5 million Orlog dice games. Plus, over 1.8 million players have won at least one drinking game since the game launched. This game was hyped to hell and back, so we’re glad to see that everyone’s having fun!

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Google Stadia, and PC.
