Dance Till You Die… Again
Next year, a classic returns! In 2021, Brace Yourself Games’ award-winning rhythmic roguelike dungeon crawler comes back from the dead with a brand new physical release. Beginning on October 23rd, you can preorder Crypt of the NecroDancer for the Switch and PS4. The standard edition will go for $29.99 while the collector’s edition is set at a pricier $49.99, though seeing as that price tag includes the base game, the Amplified DLC, an Illustrated steelbook case, a full-color manual, a complete soundtrack, and two pieces of exclusive merch, it may be a bargain. Accompanying Crypt in its quest is Cadence of Hyrule, the Legend of Zelda spinoff which lets you explore a randomly-generated overmap and dungeons while enjoying twenty-five remixed tunes. Also, you can play as Zelda, which we can’t get enough of.
If you missed out on these two, there’s still time to pick them up now. The tale of Cadence, an unfortunate grave robber who gets her heart stolen – literally – by the dreaded NecroDancer is a classic on its own, but add in an LoZ crossover where she helps save Hyrule and we’re hooked. The original game features 10 playable characters, which Amplified boots to 15, each with their own unique playstyles and challenges. Don’t like rhythm games? There’s still some top-notch roguelike and dungeon crawling to enjoy. Not a fan of having to start a game over every ten minutes? The fluid pixel graphics and excellent soundtrack will make trial and error a joy to behold. There’s even a MegaMan mod available!
Brace Yourself Games made sure these titles would have something for everyone, so don’t let the genre mash-up get you down. Adventure and catchy, catchy songs await!
