Resident Evil: Village Will be Showcased at Tokyo Game Show

Not the Getaway You Were Hoping For

Resident Evil is a series that thrives on reinvention. From the traditional survival horror of the original game to the more action tinged horror of the groundbreaking Resident Evil 4 to the first-person Resident Evil 7, every couple of main series games comes with a big reinvention to the core mechanics.

Resident Evil 7 brought in a supernatural twist- although, ultimately, one that had a rational (by Resident Evil standards) explanation. Resident Evil: Village looks to be continuing this slant, with what looks like werewolves and witches among the enemies. We’ve also had reports from game testers that we’ll see some classic villains from the series, like giant spiders, make an appearance, albeit this will likely be the result of whatever virus, fungus, or parasite is causing all of the horror this time around.

Luckily, we might get some more questions answered during Tokyo Game Show, as Resident Evil: Village has been confirmed as part of Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show line-up.

Don’t expect too many story details. We’re not likely to see any big plot twists or revelations as to the nature of what’s going on in this village, but given that we’ve yet to see a Resident Evil game with a distinct supernatural bent (although this was considered for Resident Evil 4 at one point) it’s likely that won’t be the case here.

The presentation will be live-streamed on Twitch on September 27th in Japanese, but there’ll be live translation available in both English and Chinese, so fans elsewhere will be able to join in on the fun and see whatever nightmares Capcom has in store as soon as possible.
