Battle Royale + Wipeout + Mascots
When you think of battle royales, you probably think of Fortnite, PUBG, or Warzone; all shooters, all super competitive. However, Devolver Digital and Mediatonic are taking a more lighthearted approach to BRs. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is the most adorable battle royale I think I have seen. Instead of shooting each other or beating each other down, this take on the last man standing mode is a party game style obstacle course. Each course begins with 60 players and ends when there is one left, but there are other game modes where all players remain until the end.
Fall Guys has players controlling a character in a mascot costume, which can be customized to your preference. There are several base items to choose from such as a dinosaur costume, witch costume, or baseball player. Judging from the trailer, there are also several type of courses or stages to play on. There are obstacle courses with a multitude of traps and hurdles to get through where all players make a mad dash to the end. There is also a blender-type arena that knocks players off until one remains. There are also team-games where players have to work together to push large objects around and claim things like eggs for their respective teams.
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is as colorful a game as you can get, so if you need that in your life, you are in luck. Fall Guys launches next month on August 4th, so you can waddle your way to victory on PS4 and PC. Check out the other games revealed by Devolver Digital.
