Welcome to Earth!
THQ Nordic released an Independence Day trailer for the Destroy All Humans Remake. There are some overt connections this trailer is making, as well as some perhaps unintended, more subtle connections. Obviously, there is the 1996 film starring Will Smith, Bill Pullman, and Jeff Goldblum about aliens invading Earth with a massive battle taking place on July 4th. Destroy All Humans is pretty much the same concept, but Crypto the alien is the protagonist. There is also the notion that July 4th celebrates America’s history of invasion and the genocide of indigenous people. Destroy All Humans is pretty much the same concept as that one too.
As far as the actual trailer and its intended message, the trailer is backed by a presidential address to the nation about the invasion of aliens. There is quite a bit of footage of the game, which we have had tastes of in previous trailers. We see Crypto blasting away those insufferable humans with his various weapons, as well as wreaking havoc with his flying saucer spaceship. The trailer also does its best to recreate the iconic scene in Independence Day where a laser beam strikes the White House and destroys it.
If you want to escape the troubles of the real world by being the cause of trouble in a digital world, you will be able to do so in Destroy All Humans later this month. The Destroy All Humans Remake will be available on July 28th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and Stadia.
