New Console, New InterfaceÂ
Last week PlayStation fans were given a first look at Sony’s next console. Aside from the appearance of the console and a couple of other details, there were many unanswered questions. While there are still heaps of people who are yearning to know the price of the PS5, Sony has released a few more details about the new setup. Today it was confirmed that the PS5 will have a totally unique user interface than that of the PS4.
It might seem obvious that a new console would lead to a new interface but that is not always true. For instance, Xbox has stated that they might be forced to launch the Xbox Series X with the dashboard that is currently used on the Xbox One. Microsft’s explanation for this blunder was due to time constrictions as well as a lack of manpower thanks to COVID. However, this is not the case for Sony.
Sony has promised that they will leave “no pixel untouched” when it comes to the PS5’s UI. “As it’s UI it’s practical first, but it’s a whole new visual language and a complete rearchitecting of the user interface,” said Matt MacLaurin one of the minds behind the latest design.
Fans could also be getting a better look at the new dashboard sooner than expected. According to MacLaurin, they are planning on finding a suitable date to show off what they have been working on so far. Sony has planned to host a series of live events that are going to follow the same format as the one we saw last week. One of these events will most likely be the place where we will get to see what the PS5’s UI actually looks like.
