Assassin’s Creed Origins Will Be Free to Play This Weekend

Ubisoft Coming in Clutch

Assassin’s Creed Origins will be free to play via Ubisoft’s website this weekend. Many other companies and developers have been rolling out deals and various sales this month so it would only be fitting for Ubisoft to join in on the action. While this will not be a permanent giveaway it should still serve as a great opportunity from those who have been interested in playing Origins.

Origins were the first AC title that would kick off what many are calling the “rebirth” of Assassin’s Creed as a franchise. Since the glory days of AC2 and Black Flag, the majority of games that released afterward were underwhelming and forgettable. However, the past two releases Origins and Odyssey have been smash hits and hailed as a return to what made the series great to begin with.

Origins takes place in the tail end of what we now recognize as Ancient Egypt. You will be hopping around the Pyramids of Giza whilst simultaneously fighting off a Roman invasion. There are many things to like about this game but the historical backdrop is hard to top. You will be brushing shoulders with some of history’s greatest figures.

Ubisoft is not especially known for indulging in any free to play events or sales so this is something you will certainly want to take advantage of. You will be able to start the preload of Origins before the promotion kicks off on June 19th. However, the fun will get cut off on the 21st.

Assassin’s Creed appears to have a very bright future ahead of it considering the excitement and hype that is surrounding AC: Valhalla. Thanks to how the lore of the series is set up, there are nearly endless locations and time periods in which an Assassin’s Creed game can take place. Where would you like to see the franchise go to next?
