New and Intense Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Gameplay Has Been Unveiled

Well, That Didn’t Take Very Long

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was only announced a week ago and it already has a gameplay trailer out. Unveiled today at Xbox’s first live expo, fans of the series were pleasantly surprised to see that gameplay was already being shown off. Tons of news about this game has been spilling out over the past few days. There is surely more to come at future events as well.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The trailer is a mix of cinematic cut scenes and actual gameplay. While it does not gives us a great idea of what to expect, it is hard to complain with all things considered. The combat looks fluid and the scenery is stunning as always. So far it is checking every box that a traditional Assassin’s Creed game has.

A few examples of large scale battles were shown off as well. This could be hinting at a bit of a departure from the old school stealth gameplay that we are used to. Viking raids and sieges were teased with hundreds of men all storming the walls of a city and battering down the front gate with a ram. This could just be an outlier. We will have to wait until more info comes out to know for sure.

How Ubisoft plans to depict Viking life and the time period is going to be interesting for sure. We can only expect that the Vikings, or at least the ones you play as are going to be the “good guys” of the story. Something that couldn’t exactly be described as historically accurate.

Choosing the Viking Age as a backdrop for an AC game is very ambitious and sure to present a ton of challenges to the developers. We can only hope that Ubisoft is able to pull it off gracefully.
