Well That’s EmbarrassingÂ
Valorant has just entered into closed beta and it is catching a lot of people’s attention. Hailed by developers as the next big thing in terms of a competitive FPS, at first glance Valorant seems to be a mix between Counter-Strike, Overwatch, and Halo all in one. Needless to say, it is a very unique game. Unfortunately, when it comes to high-intensity competitive games, sometimes it brings out the worst in people. Cheating is nothing new to high skill FPS games and it looks as though Valorant is going to be no different. A player was just banned during a live stream for engaging in what some might call “unsportsmanlike behavior.”
The way in which the developers of Valorant, Riot Games, deals with hackers and cheaters is certainly more theatric than other games. When the cheater was discovered, a large message in bright red font was thrown across the screen that said: “HACKER DETECTED.” After that the match was terminated, the game did not count towards anyone’s win or loss ratio and the person who was responsible for cheating was permanently banned.
While hacking might be an unfortunate reality of online gaming Riot Games has made it one of their top priorities to make Valorant is clean as possible. While nothing is going to be perfect, whatever Riot is offering appears to be superior to what happens in other games. It is not uncommon for an account to go on for years unscathed after dozens of players have made complaints about some sort of fishy behavior.
Aside from this incident, all the people involved with the closed beta seem to be enjoying the game. It is fast-paced, strategical, and takes a lot of practice to get good at. Hopefully, the rest of the beta runs smoothly and we can get an exact release date soon.
