Here’s Microsoft’s Plan To Win The Next Generation

Phil Spencer Says Team Has Plan In Place

As fans continue to patiently await the release of the next-generation consoles, Microsoft representatives have recently spoken on what the plan is for toppling their competition. Executive Vice President of Gaming Phil Spencer, to be specific, had some interesting comments on what we can expect this holiday season.

Halo Infinite

In a recent interview with IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey, Spencer went into detail on many things, including the new processor you’ll find in the Xbox Series X, as well as what all those teraflops are really going to mean in the future. He also made a few comments (while remaining mum on specific details) regarding the pricing of the console being part of the plan.

“You have to set a price target at the beginning for yourselves and then you roll in as you see the competition and you start to do your go-to-market planning,” Spencer said. He continued:

“I feel good about the price we’re going to be able to get to. I feel good about the price and the performance capabilities that we have for Series X. I feel incredibly strong about the overall package. We have a plan and we feel very solid about it. I believe we have a plan that can win [the next generation.]”

It sounds as if Microsoft is entirely willing and able to adjust the price as needed upon the announcement of the Playstation 5’s cost. It’s also been noted that surely Spencer is also talking about the combined selling points of “winning” the power advantage, full backward compatibility, and the evolution of what many consider to be the best deal in gaming, the Xbox Game Pass.
