Pokémon GO Update for Coronavirus Precautions Announced

Pokémon Don’t GO

COVID-19 is affecting many of our daily lives. There have been cancellations beyond count of conventions, tournaments, and live events in the gaming community. If you are an avid Pokémon GO player like your ol’ pal Zane, you may be wondering “how am I supposed to get my mons if I can’t go anywhere?” It’s a legitimate question. Many countries are are advising the practice of travel restrictions, social distancing, and staying home. Thankfully, our top scientists at Niantic are on the job. They have pushed out a Pokémon GO update that will make it easier to play from home.

Pokémon GO update

The basic concept of Pokémon GO is to walk around outside, catch Pokémon, and visit different places for items. This is made kind of difficult when it is advised that you stay at home. Niantic’s new update for the game is allowing for Pokémon to come to you. A one time bundle for 30 Incense items will be available for 1 PokéCoin. Normally 40 coins each, the Incense increases the spawn of Pokémon in a player’s vicinity for 30 minutes. The effectiveness has also been boosted to 1 hour. Incubators for hatching eggs will also be twice as effective, meaning that all eggs in regular incubators will hatch in half the distance traveled and Super Incubators will hatch eggs in 1/3 of the regular distance.

As for items, you can send gifts to your friends and gifts can be picked up at PokéStops. PokéStops will now yield gifts more often. You can your friends can depend on each other in these trying times. Unfortunately, this Sunday’s Community Day is cancelled over Coronavirus fears. The Abra Community Day will be postponed to a later date.
